Acupuncture is a holistic way of treating the body to get rid of various ailments. It is considered an effective treatment method as it helps get desired results. Due to the benefits offered by treatments, acupuncture is gaining a lot of popularity. There are many different Types of Acupuncture.

With acupuncture, the qualified and experienced provider will insert small/thin needles in specific parts of the body. Traditionally, the aim of the procedure is to maintain a balance in the energy level of the body. Treatment can help boost overall health and has been seen to help cure certain illness.

Acupuncture is helpful in providing relief from various issues such as high blood pressure, muscle pain, acute headache, and body dysfunction.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is a method of treatment that helps manage the body's stress and balance the flow of energy. The small needles are inserted at strategic points which help build a pathway for energy to flow in the right direction. As per modern science, researchers claim that these strategic points, also called the acupuncture points, are in places that are used to stimulate the nerves, muscles, and various other connective tissues.

It is believed that this stimulation boosts your body's natural painkillers in order to alleviate pain and assist the body in healing at a faster pace.

There Are Three Basic Steps In The Acupuncture Technique:

Generally, acupuncture points are located in all the major areas of the body. Sometimes these acupuncture points are far away from the actual point of pain. The three main steps that are applicable to the acupuncture technique are:

    Insertion Of Needle:

The needles used in the treatment are of a special type called acupuncture needles.  These needles are inserted to certain depths at strategic points on your body. As the needles are extremely thin, the insertion process does not cause much discomfort.  Sometimes the patient might feel a mild ache while the needle reaches the correct depth. The number of needles inserted in the body in one session can range from three to twenty needles.

    Manipulation Of The Acupuncture Needle:

After the insertion, the acupuncturist will gently move or twirl the needles to stimulate them.  They may also apply heat or mild electrical pulses to the needles to enhance the effect.

Removal Of The Needle From The Body:

Generally, the acupuncturist will leave the needles in their position for at least 15 to 20 minutes while you lie still and relax.

    Different Types Of Acupuncture:

Acupuncture mainly originates from the countries of East Asia, as they believe that effective flow of energy throughout the body will help boost overall health.  However, needling has been developed over time into different techniques such as dry needling and IMS.

    Summary:

Acupuncture is a great way to treat body ailments and provide relief from chronic pain issues. It has been helpful in maintaining overall body health by optimizing the energy flow through the meridians (energy pathways of the body).
