TARSAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

ABOUT TARSAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome affects the tarsal tunnel which is an area on your inner foot that certain structures pass through including tendons, artery, vein, and the posterior tibial nerve. This syndrome occurs when this nerve becomes irritated as it passes through the tunnel. Symptoms include pain, weakness, loss of foot muscle, and numbness/tingling on the bottom of your foot. Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome can be idiopathic (no known cause) but may have some risk factors such as foot swelling, arthritis, tendonitis, diabetes, obesity, or previous trauma. Your therapist will assess the area and complete a custom treatment plan to address your concerns.
