ABOUT KNEE PAIN

Knee pain is a very common occurrence. It can have various causes such as falls, sports, aging, and posture. Your knee pain may include many possible structures of the knee including joint arthritis, ligament injury, meniscus (disc) injury, muscle & tendon injury, patella (knee cap) dysfunction, and more. Your therapist is trained in completing a thorough assessment of your knee to determine the cause. They will ask you questions about activities that are aggravating, swelling, clicking, and more to narrow down the diagnosis. Then, they will complete a series of physical tests to check the ligaments, muscles, joint health, range of motion, and strength. This assessment will often include a screening of the low back, hip, and ankle as well. After they are confident in the diagnosis, they will educate you about your injury and the plan for recovery. You will recieve a custom treatment plan to get you back on your feet again. This plan may include visits to our facility, a specific home exercise program, and use of various modalities such as ultrasound, acupuncture, tape, dry needling, and more.
